The Best Healthy Pina Colada Recipe

This piña colada skips the sugary mix entirely — just fresh pineapple, real coconut cream, ice, and rum in a blender. Five minutes, two glasses, and noticeably lighter than the resort version. Leave out the rum and it’s an equally good mocktail.

What Makes This Version Lighter

Bottled piña colada mix is mostly corn syrup. Fresh pineapple brings its own sweetness plus actual acidity, so the drink tastes bright instead of syrupy. One label note that matters: buy coconut cream, not “cream of coconut” — the latter is heavily pre-sweetened and puts you right back in sugar-bomb territory. If your pineapple is very ripe, you won’t miss any added sugar at all.

Mocktail and Pitcher Notes

For a mocktail, simply omit the rum — the recipe needs no other adjustment. For a party pitcher, multiply everything by four and blend in two batches so the ice crushes evenly; a frozen-solid blender jar makes a watery drink.

  • 2 cups of fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup of coconut cream
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
  • 2 ounces of white rum
  • Pineapple slices and maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing the fresh pineapple chunks, coconut cream, ice cubes, and white rum into a blender.
  2. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and frothy, ensuring all the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Pour the vibrant piña colada into two tall glasses, garnishing with a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry on top.
  4. Optionally, for an extra tropical touch, you can dip the rim of the glasses in coconut shavings before pouring the cocktail.

I love this pina colada recipe. Being from South Florida everyone drinks these. They are refreshing and cool you down in the heat. If you can’t have drink then with liquor just take out the rum. It’s still delicious. Thanks for sharing. Your recipe is the bomb 🙂
